The Stations of the Cross re-enact the final hours or Passion of Jesus. The re-enactment is a spiritual pilgrimage of prayers, with both participants and onlookers meditating on the chief scenes of Christ's suffering and death. Here, in a Good Friday procession between Santiago's Metropolitan Cathedral and Church of San Francisco, we see Jesus, stripped of garments, walking to the station of crucifixion along San Antonio Avenue. Having been scourged with switches of green grass by church-helpers, members of the crowd passed comment about the redness of the actor's back.
