Western House, Ayr racecourse, Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland, UK The Western House Hotel in Ayr was built in 1920, within the grounds of Ayr Racecourse, the top racecourse in Scotland; it was formerly the home of the Clerk of the Course before becoming the headquarters of the Western Meeting Club. In 2003 the Racecourse was taken over and in the following years Western House was restored and refurbished to one of Ayrshire's most highly regarded hotels. Witihin the grounds is the 1975 is the bronze statue sculpture of Red Rum made by artist Annette Yarrow
