Calcifications in habenular commissure, light micrograph

Perivascular calcifications in habenular commissure, light micrograph. The deposit of calcium in the form of calcium concretions that occurs with age is not limited to the pineal gland but is often accompanied by calcifications in the commissural region neighbouring the root of the gland. In the initial stages of the formation of these concretions, small deposits can be seen in the form of basophilic drops in perivascular areas.
