When the Panguitch Stake ofZion was organized in 1877, he waschosen second counselor to Pres. JamesHenrie, and in 1882 he was called tosucceed Elder Henrie in the presidencyof the Stake, which position he held till1900, with Mahonri M. Steele and DavidCameron as his counselors. In 1900, hewas called on a special mission to theBig Horn country, in Wyoming, to as-fist in settling that valley. In thefall of 1900 the colonists in the BigHorn basin ran short of provisions, anda special fast meeting was held by theSaints there, in which they asked theLord to open the way for their sup-. year, locating at Irovo, Utah was ordained an Elder by DoctorSprague in April, 1857. The same yearhe was called to go east in the Y. , and was stationed fivemonths at Devils Gate, on the Sweet-water. He also served two months inEcho canyon as a guard.
