Letter Authorizing Transfer of Files; Scope and content: Letter from Acting Assistant Collector of Customs, San Pedro to the Deputy Collector in Charge at San Luis Obispo authorizing the transfer to San Pedro of files accumulated by E. F. James during his investigation of the sinking of the S. S. Montebello on December 23, 1941. The letter authorizes the transfer of the file to enable E. F. James to secure definite data on the sinking and requires that the file be returned to Port San Luis Obispo after it had served its purpose.
