Leech (Helobdella stagnalis), light micrograph. This blood-sucking leech is found in freshwater. It feeds on invertebrates, using its proboscis (yellow tube). Below the proboscis are two eye spots. Leeches are hermaphrodites and both eggs (red, round, in upper third of body) and testes (rows of red circles on either side of skin) are seen. Magnification: x7 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
