Moon, Mars, Milky Way, satellite flare and Jupiter, in the night sky just after a total lunar eclipse. The Moon is at lower left. The bright dot below and to the right of the Moon is the planet Mars. The plant Jupiter is the bright dot at far right. Arcing upwards from the horizon at centre is the Milky Way, with a satellite flare (FORMOSAT-2, previously known as ROCSAT-2) just right of upper centre. The Milky Way is our galaxy seen from the inside, forming a band of stars and nebulae stretching across the sky. Photographed on 27 July 2018, from Campinho in the Dark Sky Alqueva Reserve, Portugal.
