Survey of the Santa Cruz River. Published in 1839, this survey of the mouth of the Santa Cruz River in Patagonia, Argentina, was carried out on the second survey voyage of HMS Beagle. The Beagle and its crew, including the British naturalist Charles Darwin, travelled up this river in April 1834. This map is from the Beagle section (Part 2, 1839) of the 3-volume 'Narrative of the surveying voyages of His Majesty's Ships Adventure and Beagle'. Part 2 was by the Beagle's commander Captain Robert FitzRoy.
