Tourist ferry from Cavtat pulling in at Dubrivnik Old town Harbour

Dubrovnik is a historic city on the Adriatic Sea coast and one of the most popular tourist cities in the area. It is positioned at the end of the Isthmus of Dubrovnik at the southern end of Croatia. Extension renovation work after war in the 1990s has restored the old town to previous glories and created a thriving tourist city, full of alleys, quaint shops, and a host of bars. Since 1979, the historic centre of Dubrovnik has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites. Until 1909 the city was known as Ragusa.
