SAN DIEGO (March 11, 2019) Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Jose Delaluz, Aviation Ordinanceman 3rd Class Raider Peralta, and Aviation Ordinanceman 3rd Class Dorian Saldana, assigned to amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), load magazines for Sailors shooting the M9 pistol as a part of their weapon sustainment training. Every year, Sailors that are authorized to carry a weapon must sustain their qualification. Makin Island, homeported in San Diego, is conducting a depot-level maintenance availability.
