Adams. The partnershipwas dissolved at the end of two years, and heaccepted a position in the watch department of Hoard& Hoes, Chicago. In 1S61 he had the managementJ. C. Adams. of the watch department of W. H. &. C. Miller, thelargest jewelry store in Chicago. In 1862 he was appointed time-keeperfor the various roads centering in Chicago. In 1864, together with. 9 Adendum Circle. Charles S. Moseley and P. S. Bartlett, he organized the Elgin WatchCompany. In 1869, together with Paul Cornell, he organized the CornellWatch Company of Grand Crossing, 111. One of the movementsmade by this company bore his name. In 1869, together with Spring-field capitalists, he organized the Illinois Watch Company. In 1874 ^eorganized the Adams & Perry Manufacturing Company. In 1883 and18S4 he was in the employ of the Independent Watch Company ofFredonia, N, Y. In 1885 he organized the Peoria Watch Company ofPeoria, 111., and remained with that company until April 14, 1888.
