Irkutsk, Russia - september 14, 2017- -Monument to the founders of Irkutsk from the citizens- was erected in honor of the Founders of Irkutsk and time

The monument (also "Monument to the founders of Irkutsk from the citizens") was erected in honor of the Founders of Irkutsk and is timed to the 350th anniversary of the city. Yakov Pokhabov, a Cossack from Yeniseisk, founded a prison here in the XVII century and named the settlement Yandashsky, in honor of the Tuvan prince Yandash. However, this name did not catch on and was soon changed to the modern one. The monument stands on the site of the foundation of the city, where the Lower Embankment is now located. The grand opening took place on September 14, 2011.
