A satisfactory volume of business is the record of last week. St. Valen- tine's day furnished evidence of the fact that flowers are becoming increas- ingly popular for the celebration of this holiday. Flowers of all varieties sold well, as did potted plants. Roses are of good quality and prices on them remain the same. Carnations have been plentiful, but the supply is shortening up. Easter lilies are not in the market. Snapdragon and violets are scarce. Sweet peas, daffodils and narcissi are sufficient for requirements, but a sudden increase in the demand would create a serious shortage. Cycla- men, primroses, daffodils and a few cin- erarias constitute the list of potted stock. Club Meeting. The Tri-City Florists' Club met in regular session at the residence of L. Stapp, Rock Island, with a good attend- ance. President H. G. Pauli, Daven- port, presided. L. Stapp showed a vase of Carnation Laddie, which was much admired. The next meeting will be held at the residence of William Knees, March 13. Various Notes. L. Stapp has plans drawn for exten- sive improvements under contemplation at his range. They include a new boil- er house, with better facilities for the handling and storage of coal, also the remodeling of the office and garage and new barns. Mr. Stapp intends to pur- chase a five-ton motor truck. PER CASE WILD SMILAX, $ Orders fil
