Our Lady of The isles on South Uist

The statue of Our Lady of The Isles on the slopes of Ruabhal is a sculpture by Hew Lorimer and was erected in 1957. This statue and the shrines dotted around South Uist were the project of Canon John Morrison in resisitance to the missile firing site being proposed by The Ministry of Defence. The range eventually went ahead but on a much reduced scale
