Elbow muscle. Computer artwork of the anconeus muscle (red) of the elbow and its attachments to the bones of the arm. This muscle originates from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus (upper arm bone, top) and attaches to the upper part of the ulna (larger of the two lower arm bones, lower right). The other lower arm bone (the radius) is at left. The cartilage of the elbow joint is shown (white) but not the ligaments or the other muscles. The anconeus muscle aids the triceps muscle when the forearm is being straightened. It also helps to stabilise the elbow during other movements.
