DHAKA, BANGLADESH-APRIL 16: The left-leaning parties staged demonstration today in front of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) in the capital protesting for proper water sharing in the river Teesta. The augmented diversion of water from the river to feeder irrigation canals in North Bengal has reduced the flow of Teesta waters in Bangladesh to just 10% of its 'historical flow', sparking severe unrest among farmers and fisherfolk in that country. The sharing of waters of the Teesta River will continue to remain a festering issue between India and Bangladesh, says a report in 'Times of India'.Around 400 activists of the two left-leaning parties - Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) -- took to Abdul Gani Road as police foiled their scheduled programme to lay siege to the ministry, inside the Bangladesh Secretariat.
