Y., fair, the originator won first prize on his hybrid tomato, and sold the entire exhibit, "half a bushel," at ten cents each. Mr. Scoville set out 3500 plants, from which he commenced picking July i8th, and to October 13th had picked iioo bushels of ripe tomatoes, while there were yet more. Per pkt. 10 cts.; per oz. 45 cts. Acme. Quite early and handsome; fruit smooth, and of a deep purplish-red color. This tomato has, in many localities, rotted considerably,and we would recommend either Burpee's Climax or the Essex Earlj'^ Hybrid as more worthy of reliance for a market crop. This is one of the hand- somest shaped and most profitable tomatoes for the mar- ket in cultivation. Very early, solid, rich flavored, large in size, grows perfectly smooth, and is very productive Color is of a bright pink. It always ripens all over alike, having no green spots around the stem. The flesh bein< hard and solid, it will keep a considerable time atter being ripe without rotting. It is z^t"?-^ productive, and a vigorous grower, fruits very evenly on the vmes, without any rough fruit, bearing scarcely any fruit which is not fit for the market.
