Credit card transaction. Hand putting a credit card through a swipe reader. This machine will read the account details of the card holder and automatically register a transaction with the relevant credit card company or bank. The account details are stored on a magnetic strip (not clearly seen here) on the reverse of the card. Also seen is a paper roll (lower left) on which details of the transaction will be printed.
