Former London Docklands Light Railway train now in service as a tram in Essen, Germany.
For an extension of the dock land system (Bank Extension), running in the tunnel, complex changes to the P86/89 vehicles were necessary. It was decided to sell the units and EVAG (Essener Verkehrs-AG) was found as a customer for all 11 vehicles of the first series. In 1996 10 further cars from the P89-Serie (altogether 21) went to Essen.
