Arenal Volcano is an active stratovolcano in Costa Rica with a very typical conical form. It measures currently 1633m high, the crater is 140m in diameter. The slops of the volcano are covered with tropical rainforest. The Arenal Volcano National Park is popular with birders because most of the 850 species of Costa Rica are found within the park’s boarders.
