A photograph taken on October 19, 1918, by Cpl. Gunshor shows a general view of the battlefields in La Cateau, Nord, France. The image captures the area where the 27th and 30th Divisions fought in their drive through the Hindenburg Line. Machine gun emplacements were strategically placed in every shell hole, while the fortified cliff in the distance housed hundreds of additional machine guns. This image was released by the censor on December 23, 1918.
