Gallery of Francis l, Fontainbleau
The view taken in 1828, shows the Gallery of Francis l, in the Cour de la Fontainbleau It connects the main parts of the Cour d’Honneur to the Cour de Fontaibleau. Paintings by Rossi and Prematiccio hang in the gallery. The palace is situated in a forest region outside Paris. Its main features are credited to Francis I and the architect Prematiccio. Additional features were added by Henry IV, Louis XIII, Louis XIV and Louis XV. It contains four palaces and five courts. Napoleon spent vast resources on maintaining the palace and erected the Gallery of Diana. Henry III was born in the palace. Pope Pius VII lived in the palace and Napoleon abdicated in the palace. The image was drawn by B Ferry under the direction of A Pugin and engraved by B Winkles
