Chamonix, Mont Blanc, France. 29th Aug, 2014. Onlookers braved rain to cheer runners at the start of the UTMB. The UTMB started in the rain from Chamonix Mont Blanc, France at on 29-8-2014. The race takes the runners through 3 alpine countries (France, Switzerland and Italy), over many high mountain passes for a total of 163km of running and 9600m of height gain total while circumnavigating the Mont Blanc massif. The race is conducted in semi-autonomy with only a few stops for food and water. It is run for 2 nights and 2 days. The first runners are expected to reach Chamonix at 14h tomor
