Greenwich Observatory Shepherd Gate Clock
In 1852 Charles Shepherd constructed his Galvano-Magnetic clock (sometimes referred to as an electric-motor-clock) at the Observatory. It was the first clock to show Greenwich Mean Time to the public and led to the standardisation of time throughout the country.
