Aldi UK have been developing the site since the 1980's when it initially offered employment to around 300 people. The site now offers work to thousands and further development plans were announced in 2019 to build a new site across the road adding a purpose built refrigeration warehouse. The supermarket has won many awards and sits in the top six of best supermarkets in the UK.
