Arms for the Duchess of Kendal engraved by English artist William Hogarth 1697-1764
An early engraving on a large silver plate by English artist William Hogarth 1697-1764, probably done when he was Gamble’s apprentice. The Lady for whom the plate was engraved was a German Countess who became George I mistress and was granted a number of titles among which was Duchess of Kendal (in 1719).This is an unsigned 19th Century version from the original by Hogarth.
