Costume of Desgouttieres, Secretary of the Directory and fashion leader in wigs. He wears a pyramid wig, high collar shirt and coat, breeches and stockings. He carries a claque (cocked hat) and glasses. Handcoloured etching by Auguste Etienne Guillaumot Jr. from Costumes of the Directory, Rouquette, Paris, 1875. The etchings were made from designs by Eugene Lacoste and Draner after prints of the era 1795-99. The costumes are from theatre productions Merveilleuses and Pres Saint-Gervais by Victorien Sardou.
