A Japanese CH-47 Chinook awaits takeoff during Orient Shield 2018. The objectives of OS 18 include training ground forces for deployment to Japan in the event of contingencies; exercising Japan Ground Self Defense Force and Army capabilities for the defense of Japan; preparing forces for combined, multinational and joint full - spectrum tactical operations; and increasing interoperability between forces and JGSDF.
