Public Administrator 175. w WILLIAM J. HYNESPublic Administrator ILLTAM J. HYNES. PublicAdministrator, is a native andlife-long- resident of San Francisco,where he was born November 2,1874. He received his education inthe public schools of the city, attend-ing- the Mission and the LincolnGrammar schools, from which solarge a percentage of students havegone forth to attain places of emi-nence and honor in the Hynes early displayed an apti-tude for business and was associatedfor a time with Samuel C. Partridgeand later with Hirsch & Kaii^er, theold established optical and photo-graph supply house. He remainedin the photograph business for sevenyears, engaged for awhile in the con-tracting business, and also served in the Assessors office. When his brother, the late M. J. Hynes, was elected Public Ad-ministrator in 1904, Mr. Hvnes became his assistant as chief clerkand has ever since been identified with the Public Administratorsoffice. His thorough knowl
