The centrepiece of the new Rose Garden garden is a modern replica of a heliochronometer. One of these very accurate Edwardian sundials was purchased by Lord Savile of Rufford Abbey in the early 1900’s. The original vanished, leaving only the stone column on which it had been mounted.
