AVinged males appear in Ajird and early ;\Iay, and fl}' annuid the scale-laden trees. Tlie male is yellow, with transpai'ent wings and a dusky band running across tlie thorax from the liase of the wings. The females are tlien fertilised, and numerous eggs are laid, which hatch into little active larva' in June, and they move over the tree.
