Hemophilia

A hemophiliac administering a factor VIII plasma transfusion at home. Hemophilia is an inherited blood disorder in which one or more of the plasma proteins (factors) needed to form a blood clot is either missing or reduced. Factor VIII deficiency is the most common type of hemophilia. Concentrated factors are freeze-dried (lyophilized), so that patients can keep a supply of factor at home and infuse themselves when needed.
