Repre- sentative Page, of North Carolina, made a motion to discontinue the practice, but his motion was defeated after thirty minutes' debate. The contracts for seeds to be distributed by congressmen will be awarded late this week by the Department of Agriculture. MORE VALLEY PIPS. Three steamers from Rotterdam ar- rived at New York last week with Dutch bulbs on board, the Soestdyk, January 4, the Zaandyk, January 5, and the Waaldyk, January 7, but the total number of cases brought by them was only forty-five, sufficient evidence that the end of the bulb shipments is near.
