S. Gualter (St Walter) Church, Guimaraes, Portugal: upper part of north front, photographed at hrs. Morning mist.

Igreja de Sao Gualter (Church of St Walter) in Guimaraes is located at the far end of the City's Largo da Republica do Brasil. Most of the church dates from the eighteenth century, however the spires we see here date from the nineteenth century. This photograph would be suitable for any feature on the history of Portugese church architecture. Or, more generally anything extolling Portugal's touristic attractions. Alternatively, an article on the history of Christianity itself. Silhouetting the crucifix, two statues and spires against the morning light seems to depict the strength and persistence of Christian faith.
