An empty C-17 Globemaster III Aircraft belonging to the 145th Airlift Wing is prepped for takeoff before the very first C-17 mission for the unit to Pope Army Airfield, while at the North Carolina Air National Guard Base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, August 1, 2018. The mission to Pope Field is the first of what is hoped to be many, by October the 145th Airlift Wing plans to begin supporting Airdrop missions with weekly flights to Pope Field, picking up Soldiers and Cargo for regular Airborne operations.
