In like manner, while webelieve that the old Babylonians engravedcylinders, which have lately engaged so muchattention, were astral talismans; there appearsalso to be reason to conclude that they wereused as signets. These talismanical stonesof the Babylonians seem to have exhibited ahoroscopical representation of the constellationof the heavenly aspects, under which theparties who owned them were born
