Go-ing direct to Sonoma county, he settled on aranch not far from Santa Rosa, upon which hemade his home for twenty years. In 1872, ashort time prior to the birth of their son, theparents removed to Guadaloupe, Santa Bar-bara county. In 1879 they settled on the Sis-quoc ranch, in the same county, removingfrom there in T883 to Goieta and still later toSanta Barbara, where the father died in 1806. Of the five children born to his parents Robbins was the third in order of first eleven years of his life were associat-ed with his native village, in whose public. Removing to Goleta in18(83, he completed his education in the SantaBarbara Business College, and continued tomake his home near that city until 1902. Un-der his fathers training on the home ranch helearned all of the details for the successful cul-tivation of land, a training which he put tofurther practical test by renting land andranching for himself. In 1901 he leased andran the Ontario and Eagle Canyon ranchesnear Santa Barbara. In 1902 he assumed control of the El Rob-lar ranch, consisting of fifty-two hundredacres near Los Alamos, of which he is thelessee.
