This township at the present writing (July 1, 18S0) about halfunder water, embraces No. 3 north, 9 west, and what the Missis-sippi has left of 3-10. It receives its name from a stream that runsthrough it from the prairie of Walker to^vnship. Three-fifths ofthis township is bottom land, composing the rich alluvial bot-toms bordering the river, and subject to overflow in seasons of highwater. It is intersected bv numerous bayous (called sloughs) fromWarsaw down through AVilcox and Rocky Run, and emptying intoa broad pond on the south line of the county, called Lima bottom land is generally warm, sandy and rich; and the bestand most productive corn land in the county.
