Anglo-Saxon Dedication Stone recording the dedication of the church of St Paul (Jarrow) on 23rd April AD685. Originally placed in the N wall of the basilica church (nave) demolished 1782, it is now above the W arch of the central tower which joins the Victorian nave to the original C7th chancel. "The dedication of the church of St. Paul on 23rd April in the fifteenth year of King Ecgfrith and the fourth year of Ceolfrith Abbot and under God's guidance founder of this same church."
