Conse-quently it was concluded to first fabricate the habits for theconcordant Sisters. At first it was held that white woolencloth should be taken therefor. And that the clothingshould be arranged as follows: a long frock plain andstraight {schlecht und recht\ narrow sleeves without facing,so consequently the whole frock was to be narrow and close,so that it is more like unto a penitential robe than one forinciting worldly pomp. StfiTCH ON FLY-LEAF Schleyer and Kappen. 303 countenance and the body, is this : Over the frock followsa loose veil (^schleyer) without hood, which is back andfront almost as long as the frock, only that there is a littlecontrast in one from the other. After [upon] the veil fol-lows a cover or hood {kappeti) which back and front reachesa little below the girdle, so that the shoulders and the coun-tenance may by it be hidden and covered, and further, thereis still a wrap or mantle which is closed all around, whereinthe whole body can be mufEed from top to bottom, and becovered. This is not usually worn, except in wintertime,and to the midnight masses and during the devotionalhours, also in the meetings of the general community, asit is designed as a cover or protection against the cold ofwinter, and all of these clothes were made from whitewoolen cloth, therefore
