Pont del Diable. Martorell.
Although it is the main symbol of Martorell, only the western half belongs to the municipality, the other half is in the temre Castellbisbal. He is a Roman bridge that was part of the Via Augusta. It was built during the rule of Augustus in about 10 BC and was the only bridge in the lower Llobregat valley until the fourteenth century. Roman bridge, which should be of semicircular arches, retained the apparatus of padded stirrups, made of large stones with inscriptions of the legions who worked. On the left abutment raised a Roman triumphal arch, badly damaged, probably during the first half of the second century AD, with a core made of concrete covered with stones that had two Corinthian pilasters at the corners to hold the 'entablature. Due to the flooding of the river, has been remade several times (are documented in the 1143 and 1283). Roman remains attached to the device a good lock wall Romanesque (1143) composed of regular rows of small stones and a rounded arch located between the left abutment and the main arch. In 1283 it became a new reconstruction, this time in gothic style under the direction of Bernard Sellés with two arches, the largest 21 meters high and 43 wide. This arch was destroyed during the civil war and rebuilt in 1962, faithfully keeping the Gothic structure reform in 1283.
