Thin-bedded hydrothermally leached radiolarian cherts and claystones of the Jurassic to Cretaceous period are here seen strongly deformed in the Batain melange, near Ras al Hadd, Oman. The deformation produced many different structures: recumbent open folds, and shear zones or faults. This is a less strongly deformed block that is part of a tectonic melange, which was obducted onto the Arabian continent when the India plate passed on its way to collide with Asia.
