Not long ago a light touring car wasused on the Great Northern for inspec-tion trips. Special wheels with flangescorresponding to those used in stand-ard railroad practice were used. Thetread of each wheel with the flange wasfaced with rubber. A new gasolinemotor car was tried not long ago onthe C, B. & Q. and proved to be acomplete success.
