Fiery-throated and magnificant hummingbirds feeding from flowers. Fiery-throated hummingbird (Panterpe insignis) and magnificent hummingbird (Eugenes fulgens) feeding from flowers. Hummingbirds feed on nectar and insects. They hover near flowers by flapping their wings many times per second, using a long curved bill to reach the nectar in a flower. The fiery-throated hummingbird is a medium-sized hummingbird that breeds only in the mountains of Costa Rica and western Panama. The magnificent hummingbird is found from southern North America southwards to Panama. Photographed in Costa Rica.
