Our wayback was along the Camatillo, which, having beenpartly dammed by the new waggon road fromPanama to Gorgona, had created an extensiveswamp. It had been thoroughly oiled, and wasfree from larvse. At this point I met a negro witha bottleful of large Anopheles larvae, which he hadcollected for Dr Darling from beyond the oiledarea.
