Four steelI-beams extend the full length of the car, from bumper tobumper, and the body of the car rests on these beams. Achannel bar forming the bumper iron is placed over theends of the I-beams and is riveted to each of the beams byangle plates. The roof is of the canopy type. On the high-tensionwires one complete transposition is made between substa-tions. The wires leading out of the substations pass througha six-inch tile and through a hole in the center of a glassplate set in the cross section of the tile. The wires are leddirectly to a pole set in front of the aperture so that nostrain towers are required. Operating movement of cars is directed over the telephone bya train dispatcher, whose office is located over the verandaof the companys office building at Webb City, across thestreet from the car barn. Turnout switches are located sothat cars may be passed on the single-track line every 15 min-utes, and a small telephone booth is fastened to the polessupporting the overhead wires at every meeting point.
