The Tarpan, or Eurasian wild horse, (Equus ferus ferus) is an extinct subspecies of wild horse. The last individual believed to be of this subspecies died in captivity in Russia in 1909. This individual is one that has been recreated from more recent breeds. Photographed in captivity at Lascaux, France.
