Engraving depicting paper-making machinery: Upper left is the reservoir containing prepared pulp (stuff) which is mixed with water and passed through a sieve into a vat. From here it flows to a fine wire cloth on which the paper is formed as the water is vibrated out. The cloth and water are passed through light felt rollers to express water. The paper is next fed onto a felt belt and passed through heavy rollers, then onto three steam heated rollers of increasing temperature before being wound into a finished roll - right.
