The Monument of Bulgarian volunteers is located in the centre of the capital (behind the Military Club), it is a sign of the national gratitude for the Bulgarian voluntary units who fought with the Russian Army against Ottoman Turkey in the Bulgarian Liberation War of 1877-78.
