HEN, on the 20th of March, 1887, the compiler of America Heraldica, sentto the press the last pages of his book, he took especial care to mentionin his Postscript, the fact that his work, if comprehensive, was not in anyway exhaustive. Such an affirmation implied the promise that his earnestand conscientious efforts should be henceforth directed, for several years tocome, towards the task of completing, correcting and beautifying, with penand artists brush, his first attempt to record the names and arms of thoseancestors of the American democracy who counted, in the Old World,among the well born and the honored ones.
